I’m sure there is no need for me to tell you about how great Kiwi Pinot is. Like the mind-blowing scenery it is simple fact. The bouquet is intense red fruit, with spiciness reminiscent of cloves and rich black earth. The fruit has a nice presence in the mouth, not too over powering, while the tannins are very fine which makes a nice compliment to the slightly mineral backbone.
Awards and Accolades
2010 Vintage: Nick Stock, The Age Good Food Guide: From fruit sourced from the Cromwell basin and Gibbston, the 2010 Chard Farm is quite lightly coloured but shows lovely, savoury red cherry and red plum fruit characters. Baking spice, mushroom broth and raspberry compote. Slinky and savoury on the palate. There is a lot to like in this wine that finishes with spicy red-fruited flourish.
World Wine: The wine has an intense bouquet of red fruits, spice, violets and savoury earthy notes. Good fruit weight and fresh red berry flavours give a nice mid palate focus. The fine tannins and mineral acid lead to a long finish.
From the Winery
River Run is our Central Otago regional Pinot Noir made from grapes grown in our vineyards in different sub-regions of Central Otago. The deep alpine valleys and waterways of Central Otago have craved the land available for grape growing into quite distinct sub-regions. Each pocket of land has its own unique climate and soil mix producing quite different styles of Pinot Noir. River Run captures the character of each of the sub-regions where are vineyards are planted. Lowburn gives us bright, fresh sweet fruit, Gibbston savory and herbal tones, and Parkburn brings good texture and mineral length.
