The Lusatia Park B Block Pinot Noir is regarded as one of the best single vineyard sites in the upper Yarra Valley. The philosophy is to produce Pinot Noir that speaks of the place.
Highly perfumed, alluring red fruits, charcuterie and spice. Elegant, plump, minerally, fine tannin, soft acidity.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: GOLD - Brisbane Wine Show 2015 2013 Vintage: SILVER - Yarra Valley Wine Show 2015
2013 Vintage: Windsor Dobbin, Golf Magazine "A spectacularly good Yarra Valley pinot that is a joint venture between grape grower Stephen Shelmerdine and winemaker Steve Webber. A plush and exciting pinot."
2013 Vintage: Australian Gourmet Traveller "Has a delightfully fragrant nose of red cherries and plums with nutmeg from oak. There's excellent depth of flavour and plenty of mouth-coating tannin, making the 2013 vintage of this wine a richer, more substantial wine than PHI's usual refined style. "Generous soft berry fruit on the nose - dark cherry and mulberry with a hint of spicy oak," said Bourne. "Concentrated flavours on the palate with red and blue fruits framed by toasted oak. It finishes fine and long."
From the Winery
Fruit is hand picked and destemmed to open fermenters. 15% whole bunches are included. Natural fermentation occurs and the cap receives the occasional plunge toward the end of fermentation. After 20 days on skins the wines are pressed, settled overnight and gravity filled to French casks (30% new) for 10 months. The wine is then racked by gravity and bottled in early March of the following year.
