Vibrant red in colour, with a flash of purple on the rim. The nose is youthful, with fresh aromas of plum, oaky spice and a whiff of smoke. Medium in body, this certainly offers enough weight to enjoy alongside heartier dishes. Fine tannins and a silky finish will keep you coming back.
Winemaking
Fruit was hand harvested. A combination of whole berry with 15-25% whole bunch is tipped into both open top and small static fermenters. 12-18 days of maceration and fermentation. Pressed, settled overnight and then filled to French casks by gravity.

Reviews - 2015 Vintage:
"I’ve said it before, but this has been a great addition to the De Bortoli line-up. This is still really young, but the quality is right up there. Spice, cherry and a little smokiness, hard to find something to complain about really at this price point." BJ Foley, Weekend Post - Cairns, April 2016
"Despite an incredibly early start to the harvest and higher than average yields, the 2015 vintage in the Yarra was a very good one, and produced some particularly delicious early-drinking reds, bursting with vibrant flavours. This terrific pinot is a superb example: all crunchy black cherries and hints of sappy undergrowth, it's exactly the kind of easy, refreshing red you could drink quite a lot of over summer. And at this price it is an absolute steal." Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine, January 2016
"The Yarra Valley’s 2015 pinots are hot to trot as young releases, and this is one of the best value choices, its vibrant colour tempting immediately, then heady cherry blossom and fruit fragrances lift from the glass with a faint dash of charry oak, similar notes repeating as you taste with a spicy, pithy nuance to wind up. " Tony Love, Advertiser (Adelaide), November 2015
