From a vineyard that has consistently delivered fabulous Pinot Noir comes another beauty with a tidy 93 points from James Halliday, and a flavour that's going to have you shaking the empty bottle before you know it.
This vibrant Pinot Noir continues to attract high acclaim. The vintage displays aromas of sweet cherry and plum entwined with earthy notes, aromas of preserved fruits adorn the nose, along with appealing hints of spice. The palate is plummy and dry, with licks of earthy spice, fine, mellow tannins. Balanced acidity, a touch of star anise and a dash of white pepper on the finish. A mid-weighted pinot noir, right in the zone of a decadent meal of glazed game birds.
Awards and Accolades
93 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Mid-red; red fruits, spice and a touch of mint on this perfumed bouquet dominate; the silky smooth palate and spicy-edged fruit provide the length and drive required. A well balanced and priced Mornington pinot noir."

From the Winery
Situated on lush gentle slopes in sight of Western Port Bay, Merricks Estate was one of the first commercial vineyards, planted in 1978 by the Kefford family as a trial to explore the possibilities of wine making in an area that was then known only for its farming and horticulture and tourism.
Today, the Mornington Peninsula in Southern Victoria, produces some of Australia’s most distinctive wines because of its cool climate and long ripening season. Merricks Estate produces fine wines, while striving to create a sustainable environment for flora and fauna.
This is up there with my top Pinot's of the year. Merricks have decided to launch this little beauty whilst it is at its peak - much like they chose to do when releasing their acclaimed 2008 vintage in 2014. You have to respect a winery that does that, holds back on its immediate profit to ensure the wines they are putting their name to are of the optimum quality. I had the most remarkable lunch at their Cellar Door there on the Mornington Peninsula- it's a personal favourite of Maggie Beer. There was something incredibly humble and yet intimate about the experience and this permeates into their wines. There is a comforting and personal essence in this Pinot that exemplifies Merricks ethos for precision.
