Punt Road Pinot Noir 2008 |
| |
|
|
A bright light red colour with a highly aromatic bouquet of dark cherry, spice and some earthiness. The palate is vibrant yet still restrained and elegant with flavours of red berry and spice leading to long fine tannins of the finish.
Hand-picked and de-stemmed but not crushed, then gently transferred to small open vessels for fermentation. Regular plunging throughout fermentation helped to gently extract colour and flavour. After fermentation the parcels were gently pressed and racked to a variety of French oak barrels (25% new) where the wine was matured for 12 months.
In 2008 the Punt Road Pinot Noir was sourced from the Napoleone’s low-yielding vineyards in Coldstream. This is an outstanding vineyard with the older blocks producing excellent depth of flavour. 2008 was a beautiful vintage in the Yarra Valley. Warm, dry conditions allowed for an ideal growing season.
