Stonier Pinot Noir 2009 |
| |
|
|
Aroma: Intense cherry and savoury plum aromas with some subtle French oak adding complexity.
Palate: The palate shows vibrant cherry and plum fruit flavour, with some spicy, earthy complexity. The structure is weighty with fine, but quite grippy tannins providing balance to the intense fruit.
The gently de-stemmed fruit for Stonier Pinot Noir was fermented in a combination of small open fermenters and larger Potter fermenters. Approximately 4% of the blend was fermented as whole bunches. Pressed and transferred to a mix of fine grain French oak (approximately 10% new) for malo lactic fermentation, the wine was matured for 10 months prior to racking and bottling.
