Ticking all the boxes with a great review from Halliday (see below). Here's a riper style of Pinot Noir that is right in the drinking zone now. It's a real fruit and savoury number showing fleshy plums, poached strawberries and earthiness on the nose. Meanwhile the palate is medium-bodied, smooth and savoury, with licks of subtle dark fruits, fine and gentle tannins, soft acidity, and a fulsome, slinky finish that slips down easy. This would be great some beef tenderloin.
Accolades and Awards:
95 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Has developed very well since first tasted Aug '14. The hue is sill bright and clear, the red fruits still in control, although spicy/savoury/foresty notes are absolutely part of the mix. May be getting close to its peak, but the original drink to year of '23 stands, as do the original points."
BRONZE - International Wine & Spirit Competition 2015
From the Winery
Fruit is sourced from an exceptional vineyard located in the Tamar Valley of Northern Tasmania. The shallow stony soils and cool climate combination result in consistently high quality fruit with great primary fruit flavours, structure and complexity.
2013 was dryer and slightly warmer than average in Northern Tasmania, these conditions produced fruit of excellent quality with great flavour and colour. Harvested on 14th April 2013 at 13.2 Baume, the grapes were de-stemmed and crushed before cold soaking for 3 days. Fermentation followed in open vats for 7 days before pressing into French oak for maturation. After 14 months of maturation the wine was blended and bottled.
