From the outstanding '15 Vintage, this Pinot represents serious value. Packing in ripe fruit with good depth, this is not to be missed.
Aromas of red cherries and strawberries, a sprinkle of white pepper and herbs, and hints of earthy spices adorn the nose. Meanwhile, the palate is very medium-bodied with spiced cherry flavours, a lick of toasted vanilla and subtle herbs, gentle tannins, and a fine, drying and delicate finish. This would be great with grilled rainbow trout.
Awards and Accolades:
93 Points - Steven Creber, Wine Companion "Open-fermented, and then 11 months in mostly seasoned 500l French oak. For a fairly modestly priced Yarra pinot there is some genuine complexity here. Aromas of sour cherry, crab apple and a touch of forest floor with a smoky oak overlay. Lovely texture; supple and seamless, with flavours swirling all round the palate, and an impressively long, sappy tannin finish."
92 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "It’s pretty smart drinking. You’d be happy with this for just about any occasion. It’s all sweet-sour cherry and cranberry with enough spice and undergrowth-like flavour to make it feel like the real McCoy. It’s generally satiny – helped along by smoky oak – but there’s a shoot of dry tannin reaching back through the wine. There’s no need to decant or anything like that; it’s ready-to-rip immediately on opening."
From the Winery
Crimson red with a classic pinot noir, red and black cherry complimented with brooding earthy undertones. Subtle savoury spice. The palate offers hints of violets and lavender. Rich black cherry spice surrounded by vanillin oak. Lovely middle palate concentration supported by fine velvet like tannins.
