d'Arenberg's Feral Fox pinot is no pushover. A fuller bodied pinot noir than you'd expect from the Adelaide Hills region. The nose offers dense plum, cherry and some savoury herbal / spice notes. Dark fruit and red berry flavours offer a more traditional Pinot experience, but fuller tannins and tight acid suggest this will offer more over the next few years.
From the Winery
A deep, dark, dense and enticing nose filled with bracken, mushroom, Satsuma plum and cherry stone. The palate is young and structured, cautiously revealing dark fruits, red berry, boot polish and stalk. A youthful wine that will benefit from some age, it’s built to last with ample tannin and firm acid. A structured Pinot with beautiful dark fruit, this wine will shine when matched with wild rabbit terrine or beef stir-fry.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: GOLD - International Melbourne Wine Competition
The Wine Companion "Fresh strawberry and raspberry notes waft from the glass with another layer of earthy leafiness revealed as the wine opens up.The palate is packed with fruits of the forest which are harmoniously balanced by more complex layers of cocoa powder, damp earth, white pepper and a subtle cigar box characters. The tannins are vibrant and fine, lingering for a longtime with traces of ripe strawberry clinging wilfully to them.Clearly a good vintage, the pure fruits drive this wine. More layers of complexity are revealed as the wine opens up, making for a rewarding drinking experience."
