Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: 94 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "A blend of 61% grenache from Blewitt Springs, 21% shiraz from Sellicks Hills, and 19% mourvedre from the same region, but a more sheltered spot; hand-picked, hand-sorted, each parcel separately fermented, matured in used French oak for 9 months. A worthy follow-on to the multi-trophy winning ?14, it offers a perfectly balanced and structured mouthfeel to the spiced plum and red berry fruits without even a skerrick of confection or jam. Skilled winemaking, unbeatable value."
From the Winery
This warm growing season and the heat spikes in late January and early February prompted an early vintage but rain late February changed all this and slowed picking down and back to a more normal cycle. Reasonable crops after some hard years and lovely vibrant flavours will reward consumers.
Each of the three varieties was picked only when they tasted absolutely perfect. Handpicked, hand sorted and then carefully crushed and de-stemmed, each parcel was fermented according to taste. The wines were pressed in a restored wooden basket press and allowed to mature in 2nd and 3rd use French oak puncheons and hogsheads for 9 months before the final fun stage of blending and bottling.
