Deep, dark red colour with vibrancy. The aromas are marked by notes of spice black fruit.
Wine ample, full and elegant. Rounded tannins, very present but coated finish. This wine is characterized by its size, its warmth and aromatic intensity. This is a complete Wine, good persistence. Elegance and finesse are here due to a good balance between fruit and tannins.
From the Winery
The Guigal domain was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the ancient village of Ampuis, home of the wines of the Côte-Rôtie. In these vineyards of over 2400 years old you can still see the small terraced walls characteristic of the Roman period. Etienne Guigal arrived in this region in 1923 at the age of 14. He made wine over 67 vintages and, at the beginning of his career, participated in the development of the Vidal-Fleury establishment.
Harvested from vines with an average age of 35 years, this wine is crafted with meticulous care and attention. Marcel Guigal believes in low yields, old vines and allowing grapes and the terroir their own freedom of expression with minimal interference.
