From a ripper vintage and serious wine makers now - These guys are ones to watch. This wine is a lush, darkened red, that moves to magenta around edges. This is a lively wine. Stewed plum is at the forefront with a jammy marmalade nuance. A full, rich to medium bodied this wine showcases rustic charm. Plums, oak and cool climate pepper sit nicely with spicy and toasty tannins. The finish let the tannins cut through with a gentle caress of stewed plums and citrus zest playing around with it.
The people down at Jip Jip are dedicated to creating wines that express regional character, varietal flavour and style. 93 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "Excellent crimson-purple; the fragrant bouquet offers red and black fruits, a message mirrored on the beautifully balanced and supple palate, fruit-driven, but with sufficient tannins and oak support. Bargain basement stuff."

From the Winery
Fermentation took place over 10 – 12 days in a combination of open and static fermenters. The temperature was closely monitored to ensure the wine retains its natural fruit expression. New and older French and American oak was used for the maturation of selected wine parcels over a period of 13 months. These parcels were put together from our family estate to best demonstrate the depth and character of our fruit, balanced by integrated oak.
2012 was a very good season with predominantly mild, dry days. Yields were generally low and this did result in some excellent parcels of fruit being harvested. Vine-balance was carefully monitored, resulting in fruit that demonstrates the vibrancy and fruitderived characters that we strive for in our wines. By all accounts it was a textbook vintage.
