It is sensational to see some great Australian wine making skills are working well in the Old world - Loire Valley France to be exact. This engaging singular bright purple Gamay holds pure Loire Valley expression in not just its colour but continuing in its aromas and taste. Pronounced blackberry and plum fruits are steered with regional aromatics of forest woods and subtle sweet herbal spice. A fine chocolate powder and obscure nori and soy character underlies the varietal fruit expression. Lean and refined on the palate the structure is light, clean and provides a tidy finish. However I approach this wine I am left enjoying the experience and looking for more, which is always a great test. At this price you would have to made buying it elsewhere at double the price!
