A great drinking wine, for such a great price. Perfect with char grilled steak, pork stir fry or even a beef wellington.
From The Winery
The spring of 2014 was warm and dry with consistent temperatures flowing into the summer of 2015. These consistent temperatures caused good ripening conditions as the usual temperature extremes were not experienced. Relieving summer rains fell in January a week prior to the start of harvest. While this was not ideal vineyards with open canopies were not affected and no disease was seen in red varieties. Due to the rains experienced wines from 2015 are more medium bodied and show a greater perfume than those from hot dry years.
Colour: Vibrant red purple with crimson hues.
Aroma: Aromas of blackberry, vanilla, plum and dark cherry are supported by subtle oak nuances.
Palate: Palate is soft and medium bodied with flavours of red cherry and forest berries with fine grain tannins.
Shiraz was harvested in early March and was fermented on skins in automated stainless steel fermenters for a period of 5-6 days to allow for full colour and tannin extraction. The must was then pressed of and racked onto premium American oak to add richness during maturation and micro oxygenation. The Cabernet was harvested in late March and was also fermented on skins for a period of 5 days with specially selected Cabernet specific yeasts. Once fermentation was complete, the must was then pressed off on to premium French oak to enhance length.
Once maturation was completed after approximately 9 months, selected parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet were blend together to form this wine and a small amount of fining was done to balance this wine.
