Pierre Amadieu Cotes du Rhone Roulepierre Rouge 2015
2015 Vintage tasting note:
A supple, mouth-filling Shiraz Grenache blend that will please all comers. Medium ruby in colour with vibrant aromas of raspberry and blackcurrants. The palate is well weighted, medium in body with ripe, generous fruit flavours a chalky texture. The finish leaves an off-sweet, juicy aftertaste.
Awards and Accolades
2012 Vintage: 91 Points - Gary Walsh, Wine Front "This pretty much delivers everything I want from an affordable Côtes du Rhône. Fruits of the forest, a clutch of perfumed dried herbs, and maybe some liquorice and spice. Medium bodied, fresh and clean, fresh berry flavours with grainy lightly sandy tannin giving it shape, and some dried herb and crushed rock (or some such wine writer nonsense) add a little complexity and interest. Tastes dry, rather than fruity. Finishes clean and fresh, with a pleasant peanut aftertastes (please don’t take a bottle to school). Hard not to get straight back to the glass."
The Producer
Bunches of Grenache and Syrah grapes, grown in chalk and clay soils, are sorted by hand to produce this cuvée. Manual harvests and traditional wine making methods give this wine good concentration and intense fruit aromas of blackberry and plum. Full-bodied on the palate, a hint of liquorice enhances the pleasantly satisfying finish of this classic Rhône wine.
Drink in its youth (after 2 years), or within 5 years with grilled poultry or veal in a creamy sauce.
