A fantastic accompaniment to a wide range of cuisine. Aromas of cherry and violet are accompanied by undertones of spice and leather with aniseed notes. The medium bodied palate offers ripe red berry flavours and savoury spice. Continued development since bottling means this is perfect to drink right away!

Awards and Accolades
Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz "A classically expressed Chianti, the wonderfully complex bouquet shows dark cherry, game, roasted nut and truffle characters. It is concentrated and linear on the palate with smooth mouthfeel and layers of fruit and savoury flavours. Beautifully dry and firm, this is a superbly priced Chianti.
Gary Walsh, The Wine Front "Cherry and strawberry, new leather, some licorice and a whiff of gamey smoky complexity. It’s medium bodied, pleasantly well fruited, appointed with powdery well massaged tannin, and quite smoky, dry and savoury in the finish, but pulls it off with Italianate flair. It’s a wine for the moment, and a good drink. Don’t cellar."
From the Producer
Traditionally vinified in small open stainless steel fermenters, controlled to twenty six degrees, and hand plunged daily with fermentation lasting fifteen days. Following fermentation the wine is aged for just over twelve months in large seasoned (2,000 litres) oak casks before bottling and a further six months maturation before release.
A very cold end to winter and wet conditions during flowering reduced yields and delayed vineyard development before a very hot and dry summer. Whilst the established vineyards handled the conditions, much care and management was required. Late August rains were most welcome, revitalising the vineyards before a trouble free harvest of small crops of intensely flavoured fruit.
