Seductive is a word that keeps popping up when describing this wine! As with previous vintages, this is a soft and sensuous offering brimming with rich blackberry, cherry, and Asian spice notes in it's youth. Mineral enhanced tannins and fresh acidity provide good length. Cellaring will reward the patient and those able to resist.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Step back: this is how you do it. Licorice, raspberry, earth and dried spice notes are in cahoots with one another, the ambition simple: to provide pure drinking pleasure. The aroma, the mouthfeel, the flavour: it's all spot on. 85% grenache, 8% shiraz, 7% mataro."
2014 Vintage: 92 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front "Blend of grenache, shiraz and mataro, as it has long been. The guzzler for bistros, wine bars and your back deck. Choc-berry, choc-cherry scents, pretty, ripe, sweetish, just a sniff of herbs. Crossing Ts. Juicy, vibrant, plush, bright and gluggable feel in the palate. Dotting Is. Vibrant acidity keeps the wine perky through to the last chomp. It’s medium weight red full of fresh and frisky deliciousness. The best one in ages."
From the Winery
"The owner of Juveniles wine bar in Paris, Tim Johnston, suggested that we make a wine for him. It was decided that it should be a blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz from our ancient vines. Tim’s daughter Carolyn then designed a separate label for this cuvee, as her paintings adorn the walls of her fathers wine bar" - David Powell, wine maker.
