  Woods Crampton 'Pedro' GSM 2015

Woods Crampton Pedro.gif

A big hit last vintage, Woods Crampton's Pedro blend has reverted to a classic GSM blend - 45% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, 25% Mataro.

Deep in colour, aromas of rich red fruit mingle with touch of forest floor and exotic spice. Full bodied on the palate, there's bold fruit with a sweet edge. Free of preservatives and sulphates, this is drinking brilliantly now and for the next few years.

Awards and Accolades:

2014 Vintage

93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Australian Wine Companion:
"Joven style. Blend of bonvedro, graciano and tempranillo. 100% whole bunches. Unoaked. Made to be consumed young, even chilled if the weather demands. No lack of sweet fruit, blueberry and raspberry, but with smoky herbs aplenty. Whole bunches have worked wonders. Unreasonably delicious."

From the Winery

Chilled overnight before a cold soak for five days at eight degrees. Fermented in small open fermenters with twenty percent whole bunch. The fruit was allowed to rise to natural temperature and begin wild fermentation without any additions or sulphur. Pressed to tank and matured without the influence of oak. Bottled without fining, ultra loose filtration and miniscule sulphur addition.

The 2015 vintage on the eastern slopes of the Barossa Valley was outstanding. Good soil moisture allowed the vines to weather the warm, dry summer before late rains refreshed the vines before cooler conditions allowed a long, even ripening.
