You expect Barossa to excite - often for the big Jubey fruit bombs and layers of dark fruits that linger longer on the palate and are lip smacking smoothies for the soul. This Barossa blend is exciting for many more reasons as it brings some Old world magic to the wine providing a blend that slips into the glass with ease and then provokes more thought than usual.
The medium body is backed by a palate that contains a meld of savoury and medium cherry dark fruits that balance wonderfully along with tannins and oak to shout the benefits of Australia's perfection at blending and wine making to provide a wine that will engage the mind and benefit the soul. This wine really compliments food and will really develop as it opens up both aromatically and sensory.
Will cellar but really good, enjoyable drinking right now - find a good friend, perfect partner and a picnic blanket and head to the local gardens - shade of a big tree and watch the world go by in style.
Accolades and Awards
2014 Vintage: 93 Points - Gary Walsh, Wine Front "This is a fascinating wine, with a different outlook on the Barossa. Dried cranberry and cherry, spice, something like fresh seaweed, and a little smoke or peatiness. Medium bodied, meaty and spicy with small sweet dried berries, light tannin, just right acidity and spicy interest through the finish. Such glossy fruit too. Has that almost Southern Rhone/Languedoc garrigue/dried herb thing going on. Not sure why, but it does. Love this wine. Can’t recommend it highly enough."
