Langhorne Creek Shiraz - almost forgotten about but they are good, something to give Barossa reds a run for its money!
The Willson family had been selling their grapes to the nation's most conspicuous brands, before they took the plunge to retain the best of harvest for their own label. Selkirk is an eminent Langhorne Creek Shiraz which has chalked up prestigious accolades, including Australian Wine & Brandy Corporation Trophy for Best Red.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: 90 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "There is an inherent complexity in the wine that seems to come from the vineyard rather than the winery; while only medium to full-bodied, red and black fruits, licorice, bitter chocolate and earth are all in play"
After fermenting in small open top fermenters the wine spent up to 18 months in selected new and older fine grain American oak. Parcels were chosen to give the final blend the best balance between varietal fruit character, complexity and structure.
