Chapoutier Les Meysonniers Red Crozes Hermitage 2011
Colour: very intense purplish red.
Nose: red fruits, blackcurrant and raspberry, followed by violet aromas.
Mouth: ample and round, final of stewed fruits and vanilla.
Grape variety: Syrah. Our red Crozes-Hermitage «Les Meysonniers» comes from vines which are more than 25 years old.
Soil: Our Crozes-Hermitage vines are grown on gentle slopes facing south. The soil is made up of a mixture of clays, pebbles and gravels.
Winemaking: Our Crozes-Hermitage is vinified traditionally, with two daily treadings.
The appellation was initially applied only to the village and surrounding area of Crozes-Hermitage, on account of the notoriety won by several parcels of vineyards selected as Hermitage A.O.C. (Controlled Appellation). It is now a well known wine.
Past Accolades and Awards: "The single appellation wines include a floral, cranberry, raspberry-scented and flavored, mineral-laced, medium-bodied 2010 Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonnieres. Because of biodynamic practices, this wine has picked up more acidity and freshness to go along with the zesty fruit. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." - Robert Parker.
