Much like Meryl Streep this wine is a consistent winner (with a list of awards almost as long). It’s easy to see why, McLaren Vale after all is Shiraz country through and through. This has the classic vibrant purple colour, a fitting colour for the heady fruit aromas. Black cherry and plum leap out of the glass with a touch of something vaguely reminiscent of a fresh blueberry muffin. The fruit dominates the flavour as well, leading into a coffee and cream mid palate. Roasted nuts and dark chocolates bring up the rear with youthful tannins and a subtle dash of oak.

From the Winery
2015 had a warm ripening season, with harvest occurring between February 5 and March 2. These conditions gave the resulting wine a vibrant berry fruit flavor profile and ripe soft tannins. Timing of the harvest period was in line with most years, the fruit responded to the warm conditions which produced the intense flavours that complement the wine’s tannin and richness. Each batch was fermented for 7-8 days on skins with low intensity pumpovers conducted to preserve the primary fruit flavours in the wine. The wine was then pressed off to finish fermentation in tank or old oak barrels. Most batches spend part of their maturation time in old French and American oak. This wine is made to be enjoyed now while it is fresh, young and fruity.
