Deep crimson with purple hues in the glass. The aromas rich and intense. Ripe Satsuma plum, blueberries and hints of cola mingling with fine milk chocolate, cedar and sweet spice. Quite a mouthful of sweet, juicy fruit but balance wonderfully with briary and sweet spice. A full bodied wine showing great complexity with hints of cedar and smokey notes which, in combination, flows through to the lengthy and youthfully austere finish.
Awards and Accolades
2014 VIntage: 90 Points - Ned Goodwin, Australian Wine Companion "Verging on opaque, with a glint of garnet at the edge, this is archetypal Barossan shiraz: plum, dark cherry, a whiff of mace and anise, set to a core of explosive liqueur-soaked dried fruits. Full, yet fresh. The tannins and acidity a little too frisky."
2013 Vintage: 93 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Part sourced from the late (Mar '15) Ron Schild's vineyard, but will continue with son Kevin growing the grapes. It is full-flavoured in good Barossa style, with restrained alcohol in that context; plum and blackberry provide the base, ripe tannins and subtle oak finish the package."
