This is a gutsy red typical of the Margaret River region with a heady aroma of cracked white pepper, dark fruit, and just a hint of chocolate and oak. A full bodied palate balanced by chalky tannins, flavours of pepper, spice and chocolate. Well balanced with good length, this can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for a rainy day.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 91 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Good expression of the variety on the bouquet, with red fruit, spice, and a dusting of white pepper. Medium-bodied, the flavours are fresh and bright with the red fruited theme continuing, the astringency just a touch obtrusive at this stage. Fine to drink now, although a little more time in bottle should make for a more complete wine."
From the Winery
A combination of different vineyard blocks make up this blend. The fruit was crushed with the rollers set apart, allowing some berries to remain whole for the ferment. The ferment was allowed to reach a maximum of 28°C during its course. When fermentation was almost complete the wine was pressed and inoculated for malo-lactic fermentation. A combination of French and American oak was used during the maturation of this wine. After approximately 12 months of maturation the wine was racked and blended, before receiving a light egg white fining prior to final filtration and bottling.
