WOW! New 2013 Vintage is here! Already this is shaping up to be a knockout to rival the ripping 2012. A big juicy spurt of flavour up front and keeps on going and builds with every lip smacking sip! Enticing aromas of dark berry fruits and plums are complemented with hints of spice and sage followed with notes of toasted French oak. This medium to full bodied wine exhibits flavours of mulberries, dark plums and black currants that burst into the mouth. The palate is smooth and flavoursome allowing natural fruit and oak tannins to balance perfectly for a delicious lingering finish.
Whew! this wine previously under the Export Cellar Reserve label is exactly the same & bursting with black cherry and brambly forrest fruit on the nose and hints of some nice oak and spice follows through nicely.
I came across these very smart global suppliers of tremendous value South Australian wines and here is a smashing example of really, really good Shiraz from Limestone Coast, so I hope you enjoy and let all your mates get in on the action.
"Shiraz can offer a moody, serious set of flavours, and this has such things a-plenty. As well as the usual ripe blackberries and mulberries, it has the whiffs of dark cured charcuterie meats, neatly offset by the dry spicy edge of seasoned oak. The taste follows smoothly, similarly, with its intense, moody, dark fruit mince and cured meat tones counterbalanced by fine, velvety tannins. It’s juicy, yet adult; fruity yet dry; complex, yet well-proportioned, with all its components sitting in tidy balance. It leaves the drinker see-sawing between satisfaction and yearning for more, and is perfectly suited to juicy roast steaks of beef, duck, rare-cooked kangaroo, or haunch of venison." - Philip White.
