Getting better every year, this Shiraz is a big boomer of a wine. It slam dunks from centre court to provide a big, rich tapestry of predominantly McLaren Vale fruit. This is a wine made for any day drinking; bold dark cherry and cassis nose, well crafted with excellent oak, has wonderful long lasting and plush layers of flavour and comes in at a very reasonable. Make that incredible price! All things that the Mitcham Estate range aims to provide are excelled in this wine. A big full body the colour is a warming brick red with notes of dark berry and plum, and hints of spice and oak; in fact there’s a slight whiff of French oak. The fruit continues into the palate balanced with oak tannins for a well-balanced and lingering finish. How do they do it? Brilliance in a bottle!
