The glass shows up a beautifully opulent crimson red with red brick and dark cherry colours showing through. The fragrance is of cedar and cigar box tobacco with subtle fruit of blackberries and dark cherries coupled with a liquorice backing to the gathering. There is also mulberry through this complex nose, but it all remains quite eloquent and subtle.
The flavours on the palate are intriguing and delicate, taking time to open up and cover the palate. It's a fruits of the forest feast, with dark fruits swirling around to grab the attention... strawberry, cherry, blackberry, raspberry... they're all here and very well balanced. The savoriness of the wine is its note of very high distinction and really superbly structures. White pepper comes through, as does a gaminess that makes you take another look.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 90 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "This is a decent shiraz. Well-ripened, medium-bodied, full of sweet plum-shot fruit but then earthen and ferrous to close. Tannin here has a meatiness, a subtle toastiness. Overall it’s well balanced, well made and tastes well good."
2014 Vintage: 90 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Good colour; a savoury, medium-bodied shiraz that builds impact along the length of the palate as red and black fruits kick in."
