Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Lifted liquorice, blackberry and dark plum aromas are followed by some vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Medium to full bodied with a savoury richness and refined mouthfeel the palate has flavours of liquorice, blackberries and confectionary over vanillin oak, some earth and spice. Very fine grained velvet like tannins. Aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, earthy vanillin oak and spice.
Volume of flavour and smoothness of texture are both well and truly covered. The finish is where things get interesting: here there's a twiggy note, a savouriness, perhaps even a suggestion of minerality. The interest level rises. Print Shiraz has long been a big ship; it's turning, slowly, in a more modern direction.
Awards and Accolades
94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "A powerful, full-bodied shiraz with black fruits of every description, and tannins to match. Demands time in the cellar, but has the length and balance to repay that time. Prior vintages lend support."
2012 Vintage: 93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "New toasty, vanillin, almost chocolatey oak sits snug in luxurious plum-shot fruit. Volume of flavour and smoothness of texture are both well and truly covered. The finish is where things get interesting: here there’s a twiggy note, a savouriness, perhaps even a suggestion of minerality. The interest level rises. Print Shiraz has long been a big ship; it’s turning, slowly, in a more modern direction. All I’d add is that there’s now a strong gum leaf/spearmint note to the wine and the ‘twigginess” to the finish has largely cleared away. Volume of flavour and a certain tension to the overall palate are its hallmarks."
