A deep and brooding opaque red in colour, with perfumed black and blue fruits aromas along with hints of violet, chocolate and spice.
Opening bold, bright fruit flavours of plum and blackberry on the palate ease into a mid weight body with underlying white pepper, anise and spice notes. Tannins are well rounded and supple, with oak beautifully integrated.
Drinking fantastically now, but has the legs to go to 2024 and possibly beyond.
Accolades and Awards:
2015 Vintage: GOLD - Barossa Wine Show 2016
2015 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Matured for 14 months in French barriques. Its bright crimson-purple hue lights the path for its complex, yet fresh, blend of plum and blackberry with more spicy/savoury nuances; fine tannins and oak complete the picture."
From the Winery
The fruit was harvested in late March. The parcels were fermented in 8T fermenters with heading down boards. The ferment was rack and returned twice daily. Maturation was carried out for twelve months in French oak barriques (10% new barrels, 50% 1-2 year old barrels, 40% older barrels). The wine can be enjoyed young but will reward careful cellaring for up to and possibly beyond 2024.
