  Murray Street Greenock Shiraz 2012

Grown on a single vineyard in one of the Barossa’s prime sub-regions, Greenock is mostly dry grown with low yielding vines. The result is a wine of incredible power and complexity with a depth of flavour that will make your glass seem so much bigger. The nose is dominated by earthy characters, with mushrooms and spiced buoyed by fresh mint. The fruit is evident however other elements take an equal part at the front of the palate, with salty liquorice, mushroom, eucalypt, and a hint of leather. The alcohol in this means it will develop well up until 2040, but it’s going to drink beautifully right now.

ACCOLADES AND AWARDS:

James Halliday: 96
Complex, luscious and rich, the bouquet with some oak influence, but not over the top; the palate is rich, velvety and complete. A great portrait of place in the context of an outstanding vintage Shiraz.

James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion: 95 (2010 Vintage)
Full, deep crimson-purple; ripe, but not overripe, aromas of blackberry fruit on the bouquet lead through to a generous full-bodied palate, with blackberry and a touch of liquorice supported by ripe tannins and good oak; overall line, length and balance are impeccable. Shiraz.
