O'Leary Walker The Claire Reserve Shiraz 2010

O

Claire makes her statement not by impact, power, ripeness, structure or oak but by poise, vibrancy, complexity and the deep, gentle voice of ancient vine Shiraz.

SILVER MEDAL at the London 2012 Decanter World Wine Awards. Judged by the world's best wine professionals in the most comprehensive and authoritative wine competition in the world.

"94 POINTS. The attention to detail in this wine is palpable, with ample levels of red and black fruits, florals, fine toasty oak and sappy complexity; medium-bodied and layered, a little time is needed for maximum integration of all parts; the wait is sure to be worth the effort." - James Halliday.

COLOUR: Deep concentrated dark red brick with a slight purple tinge.

BOUQUET: Powerful with blackberry spice with hints of chocolate and cedar.

PALATE: An elegant Clare Valley Shiraz with rich mid-palate fruit, long grainy tannins and balance of acidity.

VINEYARD: Fruit is sourced from 118 year old Shiraz vines from the Polish Hill River.

VINIFICATION: Made in 2 and 4 tonne fermenters, the fruit is de-stemmed and fermented using natural yeast. Hand plunged to control temperature and flavour / tannin extraction. Left on skins post fermentation for 1 week, then lightly pressed and transferred to French Oak barriques for 30 months.
