Vibrant dark purple reds. Beautifully fragrant -bright raspberry lift over spicy blackcurrant, blood plum, curry leaf and hints of allspice. The palate is juicy, laced with sweet black fruit with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. There is a refreshing line of acidity giving line and brightness, but also leaving a sense of savoury in combination with the very fine tannins on the finish. Perfect with chargrilled, braised or roasted red meats.
From The Winery
Over the Shoulder Our Over the Shoulder wines are great examples of wines that typify varietal characteristics of the Yarra Valley. Wines which are fresh, vibrant and medium bodied. Low alcohol wines with intensity, marvellous tightness and sharp focus.
Vintage A cold and windy spring resulted in poor flowering and very low crops. Ripening conditions were ideal –long and slow, resulting in wines with outstanding purity and balance.
Vineyards This Shiraz was sourced from the Whitsend and Oakridge vineyards in Coldstream.
Deep, bright purple hued reds. Fresh, ripe plum fruit, blackberry then whole bunch derived brown spice and chacuterie-like meatiness. Complex, not fruit driven, and this translates across the palate. Brightness, freshness, black fruits, red currants and damsons bound by fine savoury tannins and mescal like tang. Eminently drinkable.
Reviews
"Pepper-laden shiraz. Meaty, mid-weight style. Cherry-flavoured fruit. Has enough interest, flavour and form to satisfy. Chewy finish. Toasty/spicy oak tops it off nicely." 90 Points, Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Companion
