The meaning of Pirramimma in Aboriginal is ‘the moon and the stars, and that’s where you’ll be after tasting this sumptuous Shiraz or at least somewhere between the moon and the stars. It’s the kind of wine that’s given McLaren Vale such an enviable reputation when it comes to crafting regional Shiraz. It’s also the kind of wine you don’t want to share with too many people for fear you won’t get a second glass.
Expect to taste an immensely concentrated and textured wine that’s nothing more than class in a glass. If you have the patience, cellar it by all means, but if you are more inclined to drink it right away, decant it first for best results.
Accolades and Awards:
2014 Vintage: 94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Only 30% matured in new French and American barriques, the balance in tank. This approach has worked well, with a combination of freshness and complexity of fruit and oak, fine but persistent tannins lengthening the finish. During the journey, black cherry, blackberry and (guess what) dark chocolate have all added to the package."
From the Winery
This exceptional vintage, was due to a cool summer and dry moderate autumn providing the ideal conditions for producing excellent Shiraz with great regional character. We selected parcels from the “War Horse”, “Oakley” “Bullrush”, “Bellevue” and “Johnston Prolific” blocks. To maintain distinctive varietal character only 14% of the wine was matured in new French and American oak barriques.
