A Shiraz derived from the McLaren Vale area, so is rich in flavours of dark cherries, rich chocolate and spices. Is rich, full bodied and balanced upon the palate with acidity and a juicy finish is brought together with fine tannins. Enjoy with BBQs, lamb chops and rich red meats.
From The Winery
We’ve been a fan of McLaren Vale Shiraz for many years now, yet have been keen to progress the traditional style, to wines with brighter fruit, less obvious alcohol and minimal reliance on oak. We’ve made a very accessible, well-loved style that has proven a hit with fans of the variety.
Wine Making Notes We selected premium parcels of Shiraz from around the Blewitt Springs – Willunga area of southern McLaren Vale, where the hills run down to the ocean. 2014 was a challenging season with heavy winter rainfalls in the lead up to a dry and windy summer. Sensible harvest decisions ensured very good quality fruit reached the winery. Fermented on skins in a combination of open and closed fermenters and matured in French oak for 12-14 months. We are pleased with how the oak works in conjunction with the ripe, juicy fruit flavours. Enjoy now to 2021.
Tasting Note Soft, fleshy-textured Shiraz displaying blueberries and spice, supple tannins and stylish French oak influence.
Reviews
"Machine-harvested, open and closed fermentation, cultured yeast, 7 days post-ferment maceration, matured for 14 months in new and used French oak. This has a most unusual spicy/clovey bouquet, and a palate that suggests a cool climate or lowish alcohol. Well, it's' none of those, and restasting pulls you back to McLaren Vale in short order, bitter dark chocolate flying from the top of the main mast. Interesting? You bet. Right price? You bet." 93 Points - The Wine Companion
