A classic example of a McLaren Vale Shiraz. Dense aromas of a blend of fresh red fruits, spice notes of clove and star anise and a mineral edge of seaweed and rust. Fine and elegant the shiraz fruit is seamlessly woven into a velvety, textured and weighty palate with lively, flavoursome tannins. Tempered juicy red fruits beautifully balanced with the spiced earthy, mineral flavours found in the bouquet that reflect the McLaren Vale.
Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: 92 Points - Ned Goodwin, Wine Companion "Vermilion of hue. Then comes the arsenal of smoked meat, black olive, cardamom, clove and Indian spice ebbing to and fro'. Violet soars before it is clenched by a whiff of reduction. It blows off. Then the black fruit, the blue fruit the assorted fruits....the lift of twig and shimmy of peppery acidity."
2013 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "This estate vineyard, planted '70, was acquired by SC Pannell in '14; matured in French oak (20% new). Wow. This isn't the trendy SC Pannell with aspirations to make light to medium-bodied reds for connoisseurs of fine things, but a throwback to Steve Pannell's days with Hardys (there is an explanation, but no space). It is opulently rich, medium to full-bodied, with fruit and oak in unison, and the punters will just love it to death. And they won't look foolish."
