Barossa brilliance yet again. Schild Estate's multiple award winning wine is simply an ongoing treat. A must have option for these cold, winter nights. A deep ruby with bright purple hues - the wine simply demand to be smelled and tasted.
The nose is fragrant, full aromas of blackcurrant and morello cherries supported by subtle hints of dark spice, leather and cedar wood. Now for the verdict, taste away to find soft, juicy, dark berry fruit flavours fill the mouth on the front palate along with fleeting glimpses of milk chocolate, violets and subtle herbs. This core of primary fruit is framed by a definite, but fine tannin framework providing some scaffolding and allowing the wine to maintain thrust and a clear direction as it travels through the mouth finishing rich & fruity, controlled and lasting.
2014 Vintage: 92 Points - Mike Bennie, WBM "Has that effortles flow and sappy, cuddly feel of good honest Barossa Shiraz. Smells deeply of wood spice, ripe plums, choc-dipped strawberries. Flavours set to similar with a mouthfilling, globby texture that keeps ‘em coming back for more. Just so.”
✩✩✩✩1/2 - Tony Love, Adelaide Advertiser “While the Barossa’s western and northern subdistricts get plenty of attention, this is a great example of Southern sub-regional charm, sourced from around Rowland Flat and also Lyndoch and surrounds. It couldn’t be any truer to a classic regional expression of shiraz: dark berries in abundance, faint wafts of gum forest and leaf, delightfully rich, sweet fruit fl avours to taste, balanced medium-to-full-bodied core muscle with an even line and length. Yum”
Sourced from a number of carefully selected estate vineyard parcels in an around Lyndoch and Rowland Flat, Schild Estate’s Barossa Shiraz is designed to reflect the soft elegant palate of Schild’s viticultural home in the Southern portions of the Barossa Valley.
