Tahbilk have a legendary reputation, purveyors of a distinguished brand they represent one of the oldest winemaking families in the country. This Shiraz is one of the true bargains in Australian wine and continues to offer flavour beyond its price tag and an ability to age brilliantly. Notes of dried plums, blackberry and black cherry preserves and mulberries over chocolate, aniseed, tar and damp earth. Full bodied in the mouth, it provides firm, tight-knit tannins and a good amount of blackberry and savoury flavours that linger long onto the finish.
Awards and Accolades
2012 Vintage: 92 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Estate-grown and bottled. A wine that creeps up on you, growing each time it is retasted, in particular the plum and blackberry fruits; the tannins, too, are fine, rather than rustic. All in all, a good reflection of a top vintage."
2012 Vintage: Lisa Perotti-Brown – eRobertParker.com "Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Shiraz puts forth youthfully subdued notes of red and black currants, mulberries and blackberries with hints of black peppercorns, tree bark and bacon. Medium-bodied, it gives an elegant expression of this grape with earthy nuances coming through in the long, velvety finish.”
