Much like tar and roses, two different makers with one vision, Don Lewis (a legend in his own right) and Narelle King have teamed up to draw the best from Victoria's more remote outposts. Grown in the sandy Cambrian soil of Heathcote this is a fine example of their goals.
Simultaneously quite playful yet serious the colour is the classic dark purple you associate with a shiraz, while the nose reeks of black fruit, oak and dry earth. These are tempered by the fine tannin and acid balance on the palate. The result is complex, rich, and bubbling with life. The only question you'll be asking is whose the tar, and who is the rose?
