A lush Shiraz at an amazing price - beautiful, bold shiraz overflowing with plum and berry flavours, enhanced by chewy tannins and a touch of very light and engaging smokiness. We'd suggest cellaring a case for the next 5 or so years.
Awards and Accolades
2015 Vintage: 92 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Draws on fruit grown across the cool regions in the south of WA, but beyond just the Great Southern. Good hue and depth; it even-handedly ticks all the fruit, tannin and oak boxes for a $20+ wine, let alone $17. Its balance is impeccable, great value now or in 10 years time."
From the Winery
We source our Cape to Cape Shiraz from a number of vineyards in the South West, with the parcels of fruit fermented separately with frequent pumping over to maximise the colour and flavour extracted from the skins. After pressing out, the Shiraz goes to barrel for maturation for at least 12 months before the blend is put together. We are producing an approachable, well flavoured wine and there is minimal filtration ahead of bottling.
An excellent season as we had a mild winter, then good rainfall in Spring so the vineyards had good soil moisture and good canopies heading into the ripening period. Warm days and coolish overnight temperatures across the regions allowed the fruit to develop to full ripeness and therefore optimal flavour before harvesting in early April.
