Whiz Bang, the perfect expression to use after experiencing this wonderful wine from the Barossa valley. The wine is dominated by the aromas of ripe raspberries and plum with subtle hints of anise and white pepper. A rich plum and ripe red berry palate follows with complexing cinnamon and beautifully integrated oak, finishing long and soft.
Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 90 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion “Good colour; ludicrously good value for a medium-bodied wine full to the brim with archetypal Barossa fruit; blackberry, blood plum, soft, ripe tannins. Ready and waiting now, but if you forget about a few bottles somewhere in the cellar, its circus will still be full of fun and activity.”
From the Winery
The grapes for this wine were sourced from selected premium vineyards in the Barossa Valley. The lead in to harvest was ideal but in January 14 days above 40 degrees meant things started to ripen very quickly and we needed to be on top form.
We harvested at night to make sure that the grapes were as cool as possible. After crushing they were allowed to macerate for 2 days before inoculation and fermentation. Pressed off skins and allowed to go through the second malolactic fermentation, the wine spent 9 months on oak and had minimal handling prior to filtration for bottling.
