A exotic fruitiness to this wine makes the savoury notes of cool fruits the perfect balance. Best matched with Rosemary Lamb Chops, Fillet Mignon, or a classic roast this wine will bring the perfect flavour to your course.
Reviews
97 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Wine Companion "This estate vineyard was planted in 1919, immediately after the end of the First World War. The wine is special, with a fragrant bouquet of spice and licorice that come through on the medium-bodied palate, with really attractive fresh black fruits and supple, silky tannins. It represents good value, wines of this category are increasingly routinely priced over $100. One caveat: the interior of the bottle neck has cause a serious deformation of the cork."
From the Winery
"There is a stature to the tannins with a stoniness that carries the exotic fruits through the roundness of the plum on the mid palate. The savoury notes support cool blue violet fruits that are exhilarating and long"
27% matured for 24 months in new French Oak barriques, 15% in one year old French oak barriques, balance in older French barriques
Yalumba has always had a passion to keep exciting barrels or small batch wines separate from the blending table, regardless of quantity. This is where the Steeple Vineyard Shiraz was discovered. Sourced from antique vines within the Yalumba Steeple Vineyard on the Barossa Valley floor, this wine is a strong expression of terroir, with a dynamic scent, energetic freshness and cooling earthy tannins.
