The French champagne Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve is a compote of multiple vintages, with approximately four years of bottle age. A fine, even mousse with a rich aroma. Delicately floral with nicely balanced acidity, ripe fruit and toasty hints and lively on the finish. Elegant, with great finesse. Clean nose with aromas reminiscent of hazelnuts, white Montélimar nougat, floral touches. On the palate well balanced with crisp fruit and charming, harmonious. One of the finest NV 'big house' Champagnes, this incorporates a large proportion of reserve wine into the blend, that reserve wine sitting at an average age of ten years old. The net result is a rich, complex and plain delicious Champagne with complexity in abundance.
Tony Love, Taste 4.5 out of 5 stars "This much-loved Champagne house has been missing in Australia for many years but has made a triumphant return, its core multi-vintage cuvee full of life, creamy biscuit, fleshy grape and dried pear flavours lifted with a fine bubble. Lash out for a topshelf experience."
Nick Stock "This is one of the best all-round Champagnes on offer, with plenty of complexity at the non-vintage level: attractive big-house richness and opulence, loads of toasty lemon peel and plenty of yeasty, nutty complexity too. In the mouth, it's flavour-packed and richly complex Champagne, offering red fruits, toasty lemon citrus and a smooth, easy finish."
