About the Producer
Delord's 42 hectare vineyard is divided into 11 parcels. It is made up of the four traditional Armagnac grape varieties: Ugni Blanc 56%, Colombard 24%, Baco 14% and Folle-Blanche 6%. The four grape varieties are harvested, pressed and vinified separately in a winemaking cellar. Temperature control, must settling and racking are all techniques utilised.
Distillation takes place is Lannepax, the family’s native village. Distillation takes place in the heart of winter. The continuous distillation and double distillation methods are utilised. Cellars on the property are stocked with more than 1000 barrels and a dozen oak tanks that age and protect the Armagnac eaux-de-vie. These date from the 20th century to the present day. The oldest vintages are kept in Bonbonnes (glass jars) away from the light, in a room called Paradise.
Jacques and Sylvain Delord, the noses of the house, taste, select and blend the eaux-de-vie. Following Prosper, Gaston and Georges, they are responsible for the characteristic quality of the Delord Armagnacs.
