Aged for many years in a traditional Solera of small oak barrels, this Tawny displays all the hallmarks of a classic aged port. Beautiful amber colour and a complex array of flavours and aromas such as dried fruit, candied peel, leather and tobacco.
Ideally sipped in front of a roaring fire with your toes still tingling from a day on the ski slopes. This idyllic setting aside it is great with hard cheeses and nuts, matches well with Panforte or a rich Christmas cake and can partner seriously dark, bitter chocolate. There's no need to save it for special occasions, as unlike table wines, an opened bottle will last months before starting to deteriorate.
Awards and Accolades
Huon Hooke & Ralph Kyte-Powell "Dense and autumnally russet-brown in colour, this is a classy aged fortified of real presence. It has tons of barrel-age and rancio character along with essency dried-fruit, caramel and leathery notes. In the mouth it starts out very sweet and intensely concentrated, then it dries out towards the finish, which is very long and fragrant. High acidity keeps it very tangy and clean tasting. Serve it with cloth-matured cheddar."
