A rich golden amber in colour, Glenfarclas' 15-year-old offering is a hefty proposition. A blend of minimum 15-year old whisky matured in sherry casks, the nose has taken on notes of light butterscotch notes, sherry and dried fruit, all backed by rich peaty aromas. Full bodied, there's excellently balanced sherry sweetness and malty flavours that lead into a long, lingering and gently smoky finish. Bottled at 46% as this was preferred by generations of distillers, the Grant family
About the Producer
Glenfarclas produce outstanding malts and in an unusually wide variety of ages. Experienced tasters usually place them in the top three or four from this most distinguished district. The Glenfarclas malts are at the heftier end of the Speyside line-up, though they are not the very heaviest. The Glenfarclas malts are the strong, silent type: tall, dark and handsome, notably firm bodied, but willing to reveal a sweet side to their nature. They are excellent company at any time and especially after dinner. Glenfarclas means “valley of the green grass”. The distillery is about a mile from the Spey, beyond which the heather-covered hills rise toward Ben Rinnes from which the distillery’s water flows.
