Medium straw colour with an eye-catching pale gold hue. Aromas of stone fruit, rockmelon are complemented by toasted oak and nutty, cashew hints. The palate delivers plentiful tropical fruit, with nutty and light toast characteristics developing through the soft and long finish. This is one to enjoy right away, but will continue drinking well to 2017.
From the Winery
Vintage 2015 was one of the earliest on record as a result of dry, mild conditions through Winter and Spring. Our Chardonnay was harvested in late January and early February before the warmer weather kicked in. Yields were on average and fruit quality was outstanding with no disease pressures throughout the harvest period.
Harvested in the cool of the evening, the grapes were sent straight to the winery where they were immediately pressed. The free run and pressings fractions were kept separate and cold settled for 48 hours prior to racking and inoculation with carefully selected yeast. Cool, slow fermentation preceded blending, gentle filtration and bottling on our estate.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: 89 Points - Brett Smith, Geelong Advertiser "Bright melon and tropical fruit aromas burst from this bottle and stay true when tasting. A sweeter chardonnay and there’s a nice toasty oakiness to the extroverted and ripe fruit flavours. Acidity is low, with the fruit sweetness dominating. It’s a rich chardonnay in terms of bold flavours and gets the tick of approval in the hip pocket stakes."
