A great vintage of one of Coonawarra's most consistently impressive chardonnays! Rich lemon citrus on the nose, there's white stonefruit and light acidity on the palate. The finish displays delicately balanced oak. Drink now or hold.
Awards and Accolades
95 points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, wild and cultured yeast, fermented on solids in French barriques (31%), matured for 11 months. Everything has been done to make this standout chardonnay in Coonawarra, and indeed it's a very smart wine by any standards. The balance of fruit flavours (stone fruit/citrus), and the integration of oak (the mouthfeel) are impeccable, but its X-factor comes with its length."
2013 Vintage: 95 points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed direct to Louis Latour barriques (30% new), part wild, part bayanus cultured yeast. White peach and fresh grapefruit flavours glide across the tongue, the finish fresh, the oak controlled. Has flourished over the past year, elegance the key word."
From the Winery
Vintage 2014 has produced rich lemon curd and citrus blossom Chardonnay fruit, which was handpicked from Avery and Old blocks on the 4th and 13th of March with baumes 12.1 – 12.3. Whole bunch pressed juice was barrel fermented on solids in new (31%) and seasoned Louis Latour, Mercurey and Sirugue barriques, with 40% of the ferments being wild and the balance AWRI 1375 yeast. Lees contact for eleven months preceded bottling in March 2015. 33 barriques were produced from the 2014 vintage.
