A first sniff of the 2016 Reserve Chardonnay delivers stone fruit, lemon and soft florals alongside faint struck match / mineral notes.
The wine has spent 11 months on French oak, imparting beautiful golden colour. The rich, seamless palate combines elegant stonefruit notes with underlying creamy butterscotch flavours. Well-weighted, this Chardonnay offers good length and a lingering, creamy finish.
From the Winery
The grapes for this chardonnay were sourced from a vineyard in the Wairau Valley. A mixture of Clone 15, B95 and Mendoza clones were handpicked and whole bunch pressed into French oak barrels. The wine was fermented on light solids, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine was the aged for 11 months in 20% new and seasoned French oak barrels.
