Pale straw in colour with a nose of lifted white peach, cashew and subtle oak notes. The palate is elegant and lively, medium bodied and offers a rich texture. Tight acidity keeps this nicely balanced and extends through the finish.
From the Winery
Proudly Australian family owned since 1928. DB Family Reserve pays tribute to the De Bortoli name and a winemaking legacy of selecting the finest parcels of fruit to create wine that reflects varietal characteristics.
Good winter rains followed by a warm growing season led to good yields of fruit. A hot beginning to the harvest period accelerated the ripening with frantic harvesting ensuing to pick the fruit with the ideal flavour spectrum.
60% of the fruit is grown at our vineyards in the Riverina and King Valley. Balance made up of other local Riverina growers. One with vines planted back in ‘78. Fruit is harvested at night, pressed and left to settle until the next day. Some of the juice is pressed straight to barrel for a natural ferment. Warm fermentation and extended lees contact help give a wine full of flavour and texture. Wine is then left in barrel to mature on yeast lees for 12 months with minimal stirring.
