Chardonnay from this vineyard shows delicacy, complexity and minerality. Varietal intensity and oak influence are generally in balance with the vineyard site and seasonal characters.
Pale colour. Minerally, nuance of Chardonnay, subtle. Fine structure, creamy flavours, gentle acidity, slightly briney, delicious.
Awards and Accolades
2011 Vintage: 95 Points - Tyson Stelzer, Wine Business Magazine "The grand Lusatia Park vineyard of the Upper Yarra has been toned to even greater restraint and long-lived potential in the cool 2011 season. Delightfully crunchy, impeccably controlled and magnificently enduring."
From the Winery
Bunches are hand sorted and whole bunch pressed. Juice is allowed to settle overnight and is then racked to barrel to complete fermentation using natural yeast. The wine completes malolactic fermentation to reduce the prominence of primary fruit characters and is then stirred intermittently until spring. In December, the wine is gravity racked and bottled in early January.
Vines are cane pruned to 25 buds and shoot thinned in the early growth stages to 18-20 bunches per vine. Fruit is hand picked into small crates, then chilled to 10°C before being transported to the winery.
